This year's honoree: Bill Musick

Bill Musick served as HEB’s Interim CEO from 2022 to 2025. He first began working with hospices in the 1980’s as a board member, and then Chair, of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Since then, he has served as a hospice executive throughout the Bay Area (Visiting Nurses and Hospice of San Francisco, Maitri Compassionate Care, Hospice of Napa Valley, and Hospice of Marin), and has also consulted with hundreds of hospice CEOs and boards across the country.
Over the years, Bill assisted Hospice East Bay first as a consultant as it vetted three potential strategic affiliations, and then again with another two potential affiliations as its Interim CEO. His efforts culminated in the affiliation of HEB with three other western hospices (Nathan Adelson Hospice, Willamette Vital Health and Hospice of Santa Cruz) and Chapters Health System to form the largest nonprofit hospice in the U.S. After a transition with HEB’s current Executive Director, Chris Falley, Bill left HEB when the affiliation was finalized in October 2025.
HEB is proud to add this recognition to those Bill has received from the California State Senate, the AIDS Memorial Grove, SEE International, and the National Association for Home Care and Hospice for his dedication and service to others.
