The Sue Bruns Award for Philanthropy
Kay & David Aaker
For their outstanding volunteerism and commitment to Hospice East Bay, Kay and David Aaker have been selected as the recipients of our 2023 Sue Bruns Award for Philanthropy. Hospice East Bay is honored to recognize Kay and David Aaker with this award for the many gifts they have shared with our organization.
❋❋❋❋
The Sue Bruns Award for Philanthropy was created in honor of Sue Bruns and her family's generosity to Hospice East Bay. Over 64 years ago, Sue and her husband George moved from the East Coast to the Bay Area. Sue began her involvement with a number of charitable organizations and in 2004 Sue and her husband George founded Bruns House, an in-patient hospice facility in a former private home in Alamo. The house was named in memory of their dear son, Lt. G. H. Bruns III, who died tragically in an automobile accident in 1967.
The Sue Bruns Award for Philanthropy is awarded annually to the community group, individual, or foundation that embodies Sue's charitable spirit that lives on to this day.
